Heartbreaking Discovery Kai Lloyd's parents found his remains in his room at his Flintshire home on 19 November 2021. False Allegations Start The investigation learned how his parent got a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if her son was her offspring. The message added: "Tell him appreciation for breaking into my apartment." In a testimony read to the proceedings, the mother said the individual had been in the news, asserting her infant's remains had been stolen in a break-in - a claim which was false. Law Enforcement Inquiry An official inquiry from police later determined the supposed break-in victim had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the property was never taken in the beginning". Media reports about the supposed taken ashes attracted online responses, and although Kai was not named in the messages, his mother said people "understood it was him". The "social media content were extremely upsetting", she said. Emotional Wellbeing Impact She added that Kai had been diagnosed with mild ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views genuinely were important to him. "This must have hurt him deeply," she commented, "particularly when this was untrue". The teenager was detained at his residence, but nothing was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later released pending further inquiry. Authorities said they would be in touch, the hearing learned, but had not reached out to the relatives by the moment of his death. Withdrawal and Worry His parent said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "certain periods could seem like much longer". When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her son told her he had entered the residence because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet anytime he needed, but refuted removing anything. Digital Bullying In a joint statement between her and her husband, the mother said her child was being bullied digitally after the allegations. The inquest heard that one 19-year-old urged the teenager to kill himself. She had no concerns on the night before he died, explaining how she had heard him "laughing and teasing". She portrayed him as a "caring, affectionate" young man, and said her "family is totally devastated". He had been "clearly hiding his worries", she stated, noting that he could not bear to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him". School Response The inquest received testimony from educational staff at Connah's Quay High School. On 8 November, she "overheard some boys discussing that Kai had been detained and that was the first I heard". "He told me... he'd was innocent," she continued. After the conversation, the staff member said she rang the family's parents' telephone and left a voicemail saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations. The court heard his parents said they never receive that communication. Formal Finding Lead coroner told the hearing he would wait for documents regarding what improvements had been made to handling individuals with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of subsequent fatalities report. Delivering a descriptive conclusion, he said: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young individual. "Probably falsehoods were subsequently exaggerated and amplified through the platform of social media. "During 11 November, he was questioned by the authorities and following his questioning he was released whilst investigations continued." The coroner determined: "There is no evidence that the acts or failures of any agency led to or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal action it is impossible to discern his purpose."
